Kix’s love for music began in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he honed his craft playing gigs across the state. His journey eventually led him to Nashville, where he launched a successful songwriting career, penning hits for legendary acts like the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Highway 101, and John Conlee. In 1990, Kix joined forces with Ronnie Dunn to create Brooks & Dunn, the most successful duo in country music history. Together, they’ve sold over 30 million records, achieved 20 #1 hits, and earned more than 75 major industry awards. Their legacy was cemented in 2019 with induction into the prestigious Country Music Hall of Fame. Kix is a proud member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and he spent 18 years as the host of the award-winning American Country Countdown radio show. Offstage, Kix raises Beefmaster cattle on his Tennessee farm and co-founded Arrington Vineyards, the region’s premier winery.
