Danny Burns burst onto the national music scene with his early 2019 debut album North Country, released via Bonfire Music Group. Two decades before releasing the project, Burns kicked off his career as a traveling Folk singer, logging shows on both sides of the Atlantic. He’s been on the road ever since, sharpening a sound that mixes the folk traditions of his native Ireland with diverse American influences.

North Country turned many heads, securing praise and coverage in top publications like Rolling Stone, CMT, American Songwriter, Billboard, No Depression and more. The result was a transatlantic Folk album that's both diverse and driving, filled with swooning melodies, evocative storytelling, and an elevated level of musicianship. The star-studded collection saw Burns teaming with top artists like Dan Tyminski, Tift Merritt, Holly Williams, Mindy Smith, Cara Dillon, Tim O’Brien, Critter Fuqua and Chessboxer. The album was accompanied by a major North American tour, which saw Burns performing at select cities in the United States including solo debuts New York City, Washington DC, Boston, New Orleans, Nashville, Philadelphia and more.

He carried that momentum into 2021 with the release of the critically-acclaimed EP, titled Hurricane. In addition to receiving heavy airplay on SiriusXM, the collection saw Burns connecting with fellow artists like Americana Grammy winner Sarah Jarosz, Aubrie Sellers, Dan Tyminski, Jerry Douglas, Sam Bush, plus a very special collaboration with Steve Earle. Burns and Earle shot a video (for “Mercenary Song”) at the world-famous Dead Rabbit in NYC, garnered heavy broadcast on CMT and beyond. The project stormed its way into the Top Ten of the Billboard Bluegrass Albums Chart, while also hitting No. 1 on Amazon’s Contemporary Folk New Releases Chart. Additionally, it spent multiple weeks at No. 1 on both Roots Music Report’s Country Album Chart and Americana Country Album Chart, both new accomplishments for Burns.

As 2022 continues, Burns is gearing up for his next full-length album, Promised Land. The first taste came in the form of “Someone Like You” featuring Tim O’Brien. It’s a spin on the famous Adele tune, except reimagined with a Bluegrass / Americana upbeat twist. It went on to become Burns’ very first No. 1 on the Grassicana charts in the fall of 2022. Recorded at the Doghouse Studio in Nashville, providing instrumentation on the track and upcoming album are an all-star lineup of musicians including Scott Vestal on banjo, Billy Contreas playing fiddle, Josh Methany performing dobro, Ethan Burkhardt on upright bass, Matt Menefee on mandolin and Tony Wray on guitar. Danny was also joined by Brandon Bell who did engineering and mixing along with Neal Cappellino who also did engineering and vocal production. It was followed by a unique take on “Some Might Say,” a track originally made famous by Oasis. While it’s unclear what the future holds, Danny Burns is enjoying the ride, gaining new fans and creating new memories along the way!
