A BENEFIT FOR MUSICARES

Jim Brown

Jim’s a good ol’ boy. One of those fellas that loves making music with his buddies and singing with his friends…and whether you know it or not, you probably are one of ‘em. He first cut his musical teeth at the Nashville Palace in Tennessee at the age of nineteen; looking back, he still feels the combination of nerves and excitement he had that night on the stage.

“I remember reading something years back, a quote from Barbara Mandrell about Minnie Pearl. Minnie said, ‘If you get up there on stage and love ‘em, they will love you right back.’ That’s what I try to do.” Brown takes it in stride…but he works hard. While building a family and juggling a business, he’s released a couple of self-produced projects that garnered attention and reflected opposite sides of Brown’s personality.

The single, “Those Jeans,” a humorous, tongue-in- cheek bar reflection of a relationship gone wrong found many fans on radio and with the release of the music video. In contrast, the single “By God,” shows a depth of character and appreciation for what matters most and has found a large audience in its support of the military and as a reflection of Jim’s national pride. February brings the release of Jim’s newest compilation titled That’s What I’m Talkin’ ‘Bout. With this collection, Jim blends his appreciation of both “old and new school” with a mix of retro-country and a current edginess that already has fans anticipating the title single.

In addition to working on his own music, Brown has been fortunate to have been included in several notable projects of late. He recently joined John Schneider, star of The Dukes of Hazzard, for the star-studded charity re-recording of the Waylon Jennings classic, “Good Ole Boys,” in support of the Waylon Fund and diabetes research. He also made his debut on the historic Opry stage this past October as a performer for the Grand Ole Opry “Forever” tribute to the legendary Ralph Stanley.

Barrett Baber

An Arkansas native, Barrett’s inspiration for singing and creating music started with frequent trips to Memphis TN, only a few miles from his hometown in Marion, Arkansas. On Beale Street and the corners of downtown Memphis, his exposure to artists steeped in Blues, R&B, Country and Rock would become the influence for his vocal style. From Sam Cooke to Levon Helm, you can hear the past in Barrett’s tone, delivered in a fresh sound by one of the Southeast’s hottest new artists.
